The Environmental Planning & Coordination Organisation (EPCO) The Environmental Planning & Coordination Organisation (EPCO) was established by the Housing and Environment Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh in 1981, its foundation stone was laid by Smt. Indira Gandhi, in the 50 acre "Paryavaran Parisar". Over the years, EPCO has steadily grown to become the State's premier organization in the field of environment related matters. Bringing in the Garden

Indoor plants help create a pleasant home environment. Small plants add color and scenery to windows or tables, while larger ones soften and blend with groups of furniture. As a part of the “indoor landscape,” plants create a cool, spacious feeling, even in the warmest weather. Most of the foliage plants known as house plants are native to tropical areas. Most indoor plants prefer a humid atmosphere and indirect light. Garden-lakshmi-unnithan1.gifKeep in mind that sound cultural methods, preventive care, knowing your plant’s requirements, and careful attention are the best substitutes for a green thumb.Even if you don’t have a garden, there is nothing to stop you from bringing the garden indoors. Hardy and tender Outdoor plants can be used in any room of the house at any time of the year. The cooler, the brighter the airier are the conditions indoor, the longer the plants will last. If you have no gardens, select plants that are small, that propagate slowly and that require very less light. If you have a garden, you can enjoy bigger plants indoors to start with, then move them out to a permanent position.

Most people depend on natural window light for the growth of their plants. Natural light may be adequate ifplants are close to windows. However, the amount of natural light a plant receives, decreases dramatically the farther it is placed from the window or its source of light. Usually, plants must be located close to windows to receive enough light for them to grow and flourish. If they don’t receive light indoors, the leaves start yellowing and then they die. Light from reading lamps is also beneficial, but the new “broad spectrum” fluorescent lights are usually better. Generally, artificial, fluorescent light 10 to 14 inches above the plants will provide sufficient light for plants requiring medium light intensity, such as the pothos.Garden-lakshmi-unnithan2.jpg

A combination of one warm white to onecool white light is best. If your plants appear spindly, they need more light and should be closer to artificial light. For even growth, turn the plants once a week so they receive light on all sides. In either case, keep the compost moist, remove dried flowers and leaves and mist the plants in higher temperatures. These small containers with the plants could equally well grace a formal dining table or a corner of a large work surface in the kitchen. Buy a few boxes or containers for indoor display. For narrow shelves or window sills, transfer the plants into rectangular containers. Buy three or four of one sort and display them as they are on a low table, or remove the supports of a plant trained up on canes and wires and place them on a high book case or on a pile of books so that they can tumble and trail down.

All types of Phillodendron sp like Pothos (Money plant) in soilless culture (in water) in spice jars along with some ornamental leaves of Aralia in it, Cactus sp in a broken cup, Chlorophytum in pots.

If you’re looking for low-maintenance water-savers, consider planting succulents. “All Cacti are succulents, but all succulents are not Cacti”.

Futuristic Design for the world’s first ‘Sky Park’ – The Mile

When it comes to innovative architecture, ensuring that our ever growing cities have enough green spaces is essential. The designs for the mile high ‘vertical park’ conceived by Carlo RattiAssociati (CRA) can abide by that.

Created in collaboration with German engineering firm SchlaichBergermann and British digital design studio Atmos, the structure is currently proposed at a height of a full mile. That would make it the tallest man-made construction on Earth.

The extraordinarily lightweight, Seattle Space Needle-type structure features 124 floors, attractions, and a lush, integrated ecosystem weaved throughout from base to the one mile-high apex (1,609 meters). “Imagine you take New York’s Central Park, turn it vertical, roll it and twirl it,” says Carlo Ratti, CRA principal and director of MIT’s Senseable City Lab.

If constructed, the panoramic tower would test tourists’ bravery and shatter the record as the world’s highest structure—surpassing Dubai’s BurjKhalifa (current tallest skyscraper at 829 meters), Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower (future vertical champion at 1,008 meters), and Iraq’s proposed tower, “The Bride” (1,152 meters). These skyscrapers are hovering closer to small aircraft altitudes than the ground.

The Mile features a 360-degree rotating observation platform and a series of futuristic capsules that elevate upward around a 20-meter-wide central shaft protected by compression and pre-stressed cables (which, along with lightweight, high-grade materials, secures the tower’s heavenly height). Ecologically, the tower would be covered with hundreds of plant species forming a vertical garden all the way to the observation deck park.­­­
